Dress Ups

Dress Ups is a wonderful way for children to pretend.  Pretend is so important to a child's development.  It builds social skills, emotional skills, language and thinking skills, and helps them learn to nurture and have imagination.  All these things are important for a child.  Learning to have an imagination is especially helpful if you want your child to have confidence artistically.

We have an old dresser with six drawers in it.  I about threw it away because two drawers didn't work too well.  I am glad I didn't.  It has now become the perfect place for us to store our dress-ups.  I used to put all our dress-ups in a toy box, but I found the kids had to throw everything out to find anything and then it was just a big mess.  The dresser has been nice because they tend to make a smaller mess.  I try to have them keep certain dress-ups (ie: princess dresses, gloves, boy dress-ups, Halloween dress-ups) in certain drawers to keep it organized.

I love seeing my kids all dressed up in a crazy or just cute way:

Ally's favorite dress up is this bee costume.  My husband and I can't stop thinking about Blind Melon's No Rain music video as she wears it.
