Spring Wreath

So you started saving all your egg cartons, cardboard boxes, and other garbage items .... now what?

You can scour the internet for thousands of ideas or just read Crafty Crow and she will do it for you.  Last week she shared an idea from a Bulgarian blog found here.  I was immediately inspired.  Partially because this is what my front entrance has looked like since Christmas:

This was a project that took the kids and I the entire weekend plus one day to complete, but it was completely worth it considering almost everything was free and now my front entrance looks like this:

The process:

Cut apart egg cartons.  There are two ways to do this.  One way cuts out the center of the carton (see above picture)

The other way to cut the carton leaves the centers so that you can use them to make daffodils.  (see above and below.)  

These two parts are made by cutting the two different ways and putting them together.

We also cut out long strips of the egg carton and rolled it to make roses.

Everything was glued together by me with a glue gun.  We tried using Elmer's glue so the kids could do it, but you really need strong glue to hold a project like this together.  The end result was wonderful.   The kids were very proud of it as well.
